Exam Question Kae

What is data logging?

Data logging is the process of using a computer to collect data through sensors (input devices). And Analyze the data, save the results of the all information which was collected. Data logging also implies the control of how the computer collects and analyzes the data.
Data logging is commonly used in scientific experiments and in monitoring systems where there is the need to collect information faster than a human can possibly collect without any errors. Examples of the types of information a data logging system can collect include temperatures, sound frequencies, vibrations, times, light intensities, electrical currents, pressure and changes in states of matter and so on. [1]

What is a data logger?

Data logger is a basically wide range of mechanical devices, which can perform a single measurement to more complexed. Not only that, the electronic machines have many applications such as a combination of online analysis, offline analysis, display, report generation, and data sharing. Moreover, these applications are being recorded not only with the form of statistics or graphs (E.g. recording sound and video combination with the statistics, which were measured during an automobile crash test). [2]
The devices sometimes can be individual or computer based.

Sensors

In some case, the data that is recorded by a data logging system is gathered using sensors. A sensor is a device which measures a physical quantity such as the temperature and then sends a voltage to the computer representing the quantity. In addition, sensors can be either analogue or digital. [3]

Real-time data collection

Real-time data collection is to deliver the information immediately after the collection. Because the information is up-to date, there is no delay in the timeliness of the information provided. This real-time data is normally used for navigation or tracking.
